Research Mentoring

I offer one-to-one research mentoring for advanced high school students and early undergraduates who want to try doing research themselves, not just learn about it in class.

We meet remotely, so students can work with me from anywhere. Sessions are shaped around each student’s interests, experience, and goals. Depending on the project, we might develop a research question, work through academic papers, plan a study, analyze data, or improve a piece of academic writing.

The goal is for students to finish with a project they understand, feel ownership over, and can explain confidently. When appropriate, we can also develop their work for a student publication, science fair, or preprint.

Courses

Writing a Research Review

Students choose a topic they care about and learn how to find, evaluate, and bring together academic research. Over 8–15 sessions, they develop their ideas into a complete written review.

Conducting Your Own Research

For students who are ready to go further, we design and carry out a small research project from beginning to end. This includes developing a question, choosing a method, collecting and analyzing data, and writing up the findings. It works well as a follow-up to Writing a Research Review.
